Annual Meeting Was Held August 26
A record number of members attended the
annual membership meeting on August 26 at Scotts Resort. Minutes
of the meeting, an audi recording of the meeting, and a transcript of
the sewer report will appear on this site shortly.
A copy of the handout
entitle The Plan, which outlines our plan for maintenance of the
collection units of the sewer system is available now.

Water Quality MUST READ
As we received the results of some
special water testing that was done as part of our annual water
testing program, tests were also done for a new menace. It concerns Harmful Algae Bloom (HAB) and
Blue-Green Algae. Please read and become familiar with the
information and the cautions.

Mort's "Surprise"
80th Birthday Party
On June 26th, Brenda gave Mort a
"surprise" birthday party at Scott's resort, which Mort helped plan
and paid for. The event was well attended by family, past

Wanted: Mah
Jongg Players. Will Teach ...
The Oquaga Lake Mah Jongg
League is always looking for new players to join our afternoon games.
No, this is not computer solitaire. Mah Jongg is a game played
with domino-like tiles with Chinese characters. The objective is
to collect a pre-determined combination of tiles. If you know
how to play gin rummy,
you're on your way to understanding the
game, but there are more challenging aspects to it.
It takes four players to
make a table. And we're always willing to teach new players!
Most important, our league is carefree and tolerant. Send an
e-mail to olia@oquaga.com, or
call Barbara or Brenda for details. We'd love to have you join
us!

Safe
Boating
As we approach this long Holiday
Weekend, remember the Boating Rules. There are again reports of boats
ignoring the basic rule of boating in one direction only. No short
cuts, please. As the weekend gets busy, please also be mindful of the
rules regarding skiing and tubing: no more than five boats doing this
at one time. And you must ALWAYS have a spotter in the boat.
If you want to refresh your
understanding of the Boating Rules, you can find them on our website
and at this link.

REMINDER: WE HAVE RULES
to protect our SAFETY, COMFORT, and PRIVACY.
There have recently been
concerns expressed about some concerning issues.
Please respect your
neighbors by complying with a few basic rights.
There is a Leash Law
You surely love your pet
and know he/she is the most adoring, loveable, and tamest of beasts.
As you and they walk, however, there are those who do not know that
your pet-child is friendly or harmless. Or to some, your furry
friend
may be a reminder of a bad childhood experience of jumping, playing,
biting, or other fearful episode. Please. Leash
your pet. It's also the law in the Town of Sanford.
Peering into Windows
Very Disturbing. Reports of
people, including neighbors - Yes, NEIGHBORS - . peering into
windows. Seemingly unoccupied properties, but you never know.
Please remember: Oquaga Lake is surrounded entirely by private
property. Even as a neighbor, crossing property without
permission is a violation of law. Expect the State Police will
be called.
