On December 3, 2008, at a meeting of
the Water Management Advisory Committee, NYS Department of
Environmental Conservation (DEC) Assistant Commissioner for Water
Resources, Jim Tierney, announced that the Department will be issuing
NEW draft dam safety regulations. The draft regulations that NYSFOLA
members have commented on for the last two years will NOT be
implemented. (Read more on

WATER TESTING
At the Annual Meeting, some concerns were
raised regarding water quality at some wells around the lake.
Some of our neighbors have their water tested annually, at the
beginning o the season.
The phone number for Eastern Laboratories
in Vestal, which was used by some of our neighbors, is no longer in
service. However, Benchmark Analytics of Sayre PA does water
testing locally. You can pick up and drop off a container for
sample testing at Beacon Water Systems on Route 12A in Binghamton.
Benchmark's phone number is 888.357.5227. To read the
instructions that come with
the test kit, click here.
